Well here in Australia a reasonable h14 and trailer will be $700 and a top one $1200 or so. There are heaps of rubbish out there, if you don't know what you are doing, you will get caught. I recently got caught, because the idiot sealed the frame to the hulls with silicone sealant, and I did not notice. Got $25 for the hulls eventually, and I was lucky. Fortunately I had a 6 batten sail for sale, rudders and a mast. Recovered my money that way
And you can't economically fix up a heap of rubbish with new parts. It will have cost more than its worth. So, if you buy one, buy a good one. Or spend a lot of time looking for parts. That means good tramp, no soft spots on the hulls, good sails. Its not expensive to repair mast fittings, which are often worn, nor rudder catches.
The best 14 is with a jib, and these prices are assuming that. There was a six batten sail, and its much more recent. (Well only 20 years old)
