What is an acceptable weight for a 14 (non-turbo) and what is the best method for weighing the boat?

Anything close to the class minimum of 240lbs would be preferred.
You can weigh the boat with two bathroom scales, one under each hull and add the total. Find a smooth flat surface and protected from the wind. Don't forget to include all of the rigging and required equipment.

I agree with you on the "preferred" close to minimum weight, but...I've been hearing those are very rare boats and an "acceptable" weight may be closer to 255-265. (I haven't weighed ours yet).

What do you think John? What does your weigh?

"NEW" to you, right? And what year is it? I'm almost afraid to weigh my '82, built like tanks you know and solid as a rock, probably weighs comensurate as well. :roll:

My OLD boat (this white one) was a 1972. My new one, with the white hulls and blue decks is much newer. 1973. I was 7 when this boat first hit the water (and I am old now......) but its hard and straight and it cost $250. Whattayado?
