A CompTip is the upper section of Hobie masts built starting in / after 1986 (Hobie started with Hobie 16's and later all models). They are fiberglass and non-conductive. They were designed to prevent electrocution by contact with a high power line. Thousands of older Hobie Cats were retrofitted with the CompTip.

how much is a comptip going to cost me to put on my boat and how about to i get one?

thanks again everyone

CompTips are slightly different prices depending on the model. For an original retrofit Hobie Cat recommends the price be set at a retrofit cost. We encourage dealers to pass them through at the low cost plus any freight or installation labor. If a customer desires, they can order direct from us at the retrofit price plus freight. This deal is only valid on original retrofits, not replacements. This would be for boats older than 1985 that were not originally supplied with a CompTip. The cost of the tips are between 2 and 3 hundred dollars.
