Post subject:  NJ - Need an idea for an overnighter in NJ

I have a 21sc with a tent, a motor, a cat cabin, and i want to use it.

When i lived back in Greenwich Ct there was a great island i could sail to to camp over night called Great Captain Island. Beautifull overnighter being isolated from the world by 3 miles of water.

Now i live down in South jersey and i have been droning over the maps trying to find an island or other destination that i can sail to for an overnighter. I honestly cannot find anything. Any island type destinations i can find are swampy. Any one know of a 30 mile or so trip that can be an over night type camping trip?

I do not know if you can make a (legal) beach landing but you could checkout sailing the Delaware Bay to Lewis, and possibly stay at Cape Helopen State Park. It's about 12 miles from Cape May to Lewis. If you started up the bay around Reeds Beach it would be about 25 miles, (straight line). You would need to explore the possibilies on the Delaware side first. Also be aware of the strong current and shipping in the Delaware bay.

I don't know anywhere that would permit beach landing and camping on the beach in New Jersey.
