Its been years since I've sailed Lake Hefner. Hobie Point? I remember their beeing alot of Hobies at the point north of the OCBC I think thats all developed now with coffee houses and eateries. Planing on being in the area around the end of May. I also heard there are Hobie rentals near Stars and Stripes park? Can anyone confirm this?

Leeward sailboat rentals is located just west of stars & stripes park,
they do have a hobie 16 they rent.

Hobie point and the ymca sailing school is just to the west of the sailboat rentals

Come by and fly the hull with us anytime - we are there most weekends and also a couple of night a week

Shameless bump to the top!

This weekend, April 29th and 30th, is the Daggerless (wave/14/16) regatta at Lake Hefner. Regardless of your boat come on out and meet some of the Hobie faithfuls. Folks from several states will be in attendance.

Post subject:  New to this

I live in Norman and just purchased a Hobie 14. I plan to drive up to Lake Hefner very soon and take her out. If anyone has advice or would be willing to teach me something about sailing a cat that would be great.

Can't wait to hear from you!

The lake is very low right now. Cat Beach is almost 100 yards to the water! Supposedly, they are adding water, but we'll see...

Anyway, head out to Hobie Point on a typical weekend and there will be plenty of people around to help you out, especially getting the boat across the beach to the water. I won't be out there for a few weeks 'cause I'm waiting for MY NEW HOBIE 16 to get delivered. See you on the lake.

Lake Hefner is now patheticaly low. It is another 5 or 6 ft lower since my last post. In fact, Hefner now looks more like a big pond than it does a lake. Supposedly, they are gonna add 2-3 ft of water in January, but even if they do, it will still be 8-10 ft low. We'll see....

Anyway, if it stays the same, it looks like we'll be trailering our boat next summer. I just hope there is enough water in it by April for the Daggerless Regatta.

Post subject:  Wet Spring

Lake is coming back up - with all the spring rains west of Oklahoma city
Its now up from 1185.00 to 1192.00 +/- and more water coming into the lake daily - looks like we should have a good sailing year after all.

Time to put the monoslug back in the wet skip and clean up the old Hobie!!!!

Gordon, Where do you find the lake levels on the internet? Can you post the link? Also, my email is [email protected]. Please email me so I can get your email address. Thanks.
