I live in League City and work in Texas City. A whole lot of people go to the Texas CIty Dike and stay the weekend. Sail right of the beach without the waves of Galveston. There is a cat sailing club that is always there, Texas City Yacht Club, go to yahoo and type tcdyc it will tell you everything you want to know about them. Maybe I'll see ya out there

So lemme see if i got this right: that dyke is the south end of the waterway that goes out by that sea wolf park where the ferrys cross from bolivar island? I very seldom see sailboats along the seawall in galveston but over by the airport and that big glass dome thing (cant recall the name)..............?

That sounds like the dike. It is a 5 mile long man made peninsila (spelling) coming out from Texas City by the chemical plants. The south side is the TC Port side all rocks great for fishing. About 3 or 4 miles down on the north side there is beach. When the wind is out of the south it will be real choppy on the south side and smooth on the north side (beach side) because of the dike. You can fly on a beam up and down the beach just a couple hundred feet off the shore. The only things you have to watch for is jetskis and big waves coming in from the ships coming in and out of the ship channel which is probably over a mile away from the beach. There is always cats out there on the weekend and sometimes during the week, I'm not sure about winter coming though. Just come down I45 south to Texas City exit Emmet F. Lowery Highway (1764). Drive all the way through town staying on 1764 till ends with apark at the very end the take a right to the first light turn left at the light and your on the dike you'll see the signs go down about 3 or 4 miles you'll see the beach on the left. Its not always the cleanest place to go to but the city is trying stay on top of it. Good Luck See Ya :D

Gulf Coast Sailing Center on FM 2094 will let you store you boat with mast up. You can sail in the Wed night races from there. Think they charge $ 45 or so.

Trying to get group up to race next year, start again in April. :D

It is on FM 2094 between League City and Seabrook . Cost about $45 or so a month for storage there. It is where you would launch for the Wed night races on Clear Lake, cost $20 or so a month just to lauch. Open all year round. There is no storage at the dike, you just pull up trailer and launch. Our website is www.TCDYC.com. You can call me if you want to talk about these. Doug Snell 281-326-2702.
