I see some old posts of Hobie Beach in Oxnard.

Can I launch my H16 from there?

Parking tips?

It looked like it was still in use. I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow.

Let us know what happened.
PS, does anyone know where to rent and sail a Hobie Getaway in the Los Angeles area? Thanks!

You can rent a Getaway in Mission Bay, San Diego. Sailing Center at San Clemente point in Sail Bay (Sail Bay is in Mission Bay).

I use the hobie beach at channel islands all the time now. Its actually a pretty decent beach launch and never crowded. Its right into the wind so sometimes you come in a little hot thats all.

I have sailed here a lot. When the winds are ligther and the seas are not steep, you can close-reach up to Ventura (although not a lot of public docking but nice eateries and ice cream shop), and then run/broad-reach-jibe back to Channel Islands (1-2 hours oneway). The wind can pick up and the chop gets steep out of the breakwater, but just inside the breakwater you can have some nice screaming reaches on flat water (and even beach on one side if you want). The harbor is a relaxing reach back and forth. A stop at a public dock below eateries, like the "Lookout Grill", offer a nice way to break up the day. I have not beach- launched (Where actually is "Hobie Beach"??) here, but I have launched at the ramp off of Victoria many times (just $5) or even overnighted ($25)... Restrooms stay open, and there is a 24-hour coffee shop nearby.

It's next door to Kiddie Beach. Look for Kiddie Beach on Google Maps.
