Post subject:  Advice on new boat for the Bahamas?

I am sailing an older Hobie 16 here in North Eleuthera. The sailing is great with steady breezes and warm water. The reefs are beautiful, but dangerous.
I would like replace it with a single handed reliable, fun boat. There are several sailors here that are looking for the same type boat, they are experienced and mainly singlehanded with occasional crew. I like the idea of the FX, but I understand they may be hard to find. I also need something rugged as parts and repairs are difficult over here. I would still like a performance boat, not a resort rental type.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A PotCake is a mixed breed dog (Hienz 57) here in the Bahamas, therefore, PotCat!

A Hobie 17. A newer 16. The FX One may be difficult to find on the used market but if you have the dough then buy a new one.

What's wrong with a Wave?

Here's an FX One listing in North Carolina. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35794

Thanks, I will call the listing and look into a new FX too.

I want a little more performance than a 16, great boat, but want a little more leeward hull bouyancy.

Have not seen a 17 before, will look into that as well.
