I tried to add some locations to the google map above but they keep disappearing!
So...if your ever in this neck of the woods you have a TON of options for sailing on some very nice lakes!

Just to name a few....

1. Cultus Lake, my local favorite. Good strong afternoon winds. Decent Launch.

2. Wickiup Resevoir, good launches on the NW side. Decent winds though can be shifty

3. Elk Lake, small but fun. Great beach and launch at Little Fawn Campground.

4. East Lake/Paulina Lake, awesome spot in the Newberry Caldera. Volcano Sailing at its finest!
Image
5. Waldo Lake, one of the clearest lakes in the world, you can see the bottom over 100 feet down on calm days. Great camping and sailing...mosquitoes are fierce until early fall

I could go on and on....there are a ton of cool lakes around here. Mountain views, clear water, decent winds, tons of camping areas. If your ever in the area hit me up!

Just an update as I have a new favorite lake!
Odell Lake, located off Hwy 58 near the summit of Willamette pass.
Located about 1.5 hours south of Bend.
Wind turns on like clockwork every afternoon and it cranks!
One of the biggest lakes in the area means less tacking and more hull flying!

Best launch is at the West end at Trapper Creek Campground. Easy mast stepping, launching and plenty of spots to beach it if your creative 8) Water is cold, bring a wetsuit.

Give Crescent a try, close to Odell and less windy.

Crescent can have some weird wind. I much prefer Odell wind is usually super strong and steady. I like it nuking! :)
Were you at fern ridge race this weekend? I only saw 2 18s??

Unfortunately no. I am good friends with the guys at fern ridge, but I recently moved to Iowa - hope you had a good time. Say hi to Larry and Dan, they should be at Waldo later this summer.
