Vann’s Tavern on the NW end of Lanier. It is across the lake from Aqualand. I like it b/c the ramp is rarely crowded w/ motorboats and there are 2 sandy spots to beach your boat . One beach is lake side while the other is sheltered and adjacent to the launch. Just make sure to use the cente lane on the ramp b/c the side lanes have low tree limbs. |

I have been launching at Tidwell which is the at the south end of the lake on the west side. It has 3 ramps so launching goes fast. The ramp drops you right in the big part of Lanier so there is no sailing up small lake fingers. Tidwell has stayed open during the lowest lake levels. It is at the busy end of the lake so plan on encountering very wavy conditions on the weekends. The waves literally knock the wind out of your sails during light wind conditions. Thanks! |
