I know that Hobie is located in this area is there a good place to launch a 16ft hobie from here?

Thanks,
Luke

Hobie is in Oceanside.

There are several harbors to launch from up in the Laguna area.

Dana Point to the south and Newport to the north.

Dana Point is an awful place to launch in my opinion. I would recommend driving down to Oceanside (their ramp is sweet as it points into the wind) or up to Long Beach and launch of the beach at Belmont Shores.

My favorite is Long Beach, but then I live here. Another nice option is Mission Bay in San Diego. If you are a Yacht Club member ask for reciprocity and you can sail out of MBYC, a nice facility.

Mission bay is THE best place to sail in all of California... except for the guys that like higher wind. Wind in San Diego is 8-12 (very seldom 18 or more) most days.

Easy launching and free. Lots of public ramps and wide open beaches. Safe protected bay sailing and easy access to the ocean.

From Relands, Mission Bay is probably the easiest drive.

If you plan on coming down for a couple of days, try Campland By The Bay - Mission Bay. Camping for tent or trailer. Great launching & facilities.
If you're in the military or D.O.D.; active duty or retired - try Fiddler's Cove in Coronado (San Diego Bay).
