Hi all,

Just bought a new (old) 16. Upgraded from my '82 to an '84 (redline). This boat has a comptip that is beginning to see some wear from UV exposure and from the main halyard. I can see glass in a couple of spots. My questions are:

1. What, if any, actions should I take on the small amounts of glass that are exposed

2. What normal maintenance should I perform on the comptip to reduce further wear? Waxing? Painting? I am fabricating a sunbrella comptip cover with leftover material I have from another project.

Thanks!

Possibly paint or a clear coat over the entire Ctip and then covering and waxing from time to time as you would with the hulls.

Thanks for the quick reply, Matt.

Any thoughts of the type of paint you recommend that will hold up to the stress of pre-bending the mast? I have seen several varieties of Marine grade paint...enamel, Polyurethane, Two Part Polyurethane, etc...

I have been told that there is a Vinyl paint? Otherwise a two part epoxy paint will flex plenty.
