I just got my first Hobie 16, and have some soft spots on the decks to address before they get worse. The search function did not hit on anything related to how much "Git Rot" is required to fill a soft spot of a certain area.

So my question is, approximately what size (area) of soft spot would be filled per ounce of Git Rot or some similar product.

I dont want to under buy and not complete the repair, and I dont want to have to buy too much at about $2/oz.

Thanks for the help.

Chad

I just did a repair job about a week ago on a couple small soft spots on the Port side. One was about 6” x 3” about 18” back from the bow and the other was about a 6” Dia. circle about 18” in front of the rear pylon. I had gotten a 16 oz. Git-Rot Kit and I still have at least half to ¾’s on a kit left. I only mixed up one batch per the instructions and I still didn’t use it all up, so I guess it would depend on how large your soft spots are. Check out the post in Help With Repairs Soft Spots are Fixed for pics and more info from Mbounds on this subject. If I ever have to do this again I will make sure to pull the masking tape as soon as I can and try and clean up any excess Git-Rot up with it is still liquid or semi liquid.
