Post subject:  fix up

hello, mates.
my H 16 that I bought for fix up gives me a headake but I don't want to give up - not just yet :-).
previous owner abused this boat a bit, painted with 3 different collor cats.
Now, after paint peeling off, all 3 collors are showing not to mention
original fibreglass' red color. I am sanding off what I can and there my question comes. What to do next? Gelcoat and if yes how to do it?
or Paint? if yest with what paint to get the best and long lasting results. Time is pressing with summer being short in Canada. Any practical (and economical) advice welcomed. Hobiejack.

If you sand it all down to the fiberglass, chances are that no polish or oxidizing remover will work for you.

Your best bet will be to repaint it after you've sanded it all down. I just painted my 17, and it looks fantastic. I used Interlux Brightsides one part paint with the primer. I did spray on the final coat, so it really does have a showroom shine to it.

Make sure you use at least two solid coats of primer, as this is what will keep the paint from getting superficial scratches and will last longer.
