I'm in the process of removing a series of plugs inside the pylons of my H14. So far I've taken out a rubbery band at the top, a 2" plug of styrofoam, a 1" layer of the rubbery caulk (not silicone), and am now down to deck level and have reached what looks like spray in expandable foam. Is this normal? Haven't seen any breather tubes, so I'm assuming this is someone's attempt to seal the pylons. Can I safely go down through the foam so that I can get some air in the hulls to dry them out? One hull is much heavier than the other and I can't get water to run out when I leave the heavy one bow up, vertically, overnight. Thanks for any thoughts. |

You're doing it wrong if you want air in the hulls. The pylons seat down into a hard foam "shoe". There is no significant opening into the hulls. The plugs, etc. sound like the factory installation. The only way to really increase airflow inside the hulls (to dry them out) is to cut a port in - best location is aft of the front pylon. |

Then is the breather tube in the aft part of the extrusion? It seems to be filled with the rubbery caulk too. There's no reason to put a port in the other hull if it isn't necessary to dry it out, is there? |
