Has anyone tried to make their own Mast Cradle

I was thinking of getting a block of wood and curve it out to fit the cross bar and mast and then one for the boom. and get some type of carpet to it

has anyone made one before or got any better suggestions?

not really willing to spend $70 bucks for it or $150 for the trailer cradle\

Swim noodles...the big (6" dia.?) kind. Cut a couple of pieces about 8" long. Carve them (longitudinally) to fit the rear crossbar and the mast (I always carry my mast with track up). Stack them up and use lots of bungies. You can get about three sets out of a $5 noodle. I probably travel with the boat an average of 600 miles round-trip an average of eight times a year....no problems.

I am a little confused on the swim noodle idea but it sounds great.

Can anyone post a picture?
