 Post subject: Ripping noise

! was standing on the pontoon trying to right the H17 when i heard a crack and a ripping noise in the pontoon. I cannot see any damage what could this be and should i be concernerned - the hull is not soft where I was standing.

You may have fractured the inner glass layer and foam. Since the hull is very rounded in that area, the outer skin has simply poped back to shape and may feel stiff.

You may have to compress quite gard to see the area distort again. Problem in the long run? Not sure. Depends on where exactly. Perhaps a delamination injection. Take a look at the delamination FAQ.

It area is about 2-3' forward of the front cross bar on the inside of the hull,

is it safe to put a inspection port in this area? on the deck. I would like to sailing in an upcoming race before I fix it but don't want to race something that may be unsafe.
