I HAVE A NEAT 12FT. CAT ALL GLASS I,AM BRINGING BACK FROM THE DEAD. BEEN MAKEING EVERYTHING FROM LOWES AND A FEW THINGS HOBIE .AND USED PARTS OFF MY HOBIE 16. MY QUESTION IS CAN I PUT GEL COAT OVER WOOD OR DO I HAVE TO GLASS IT FIRST . |

I'm pretty sure that gelcoat is basically colored polyester resin. So if that's the case, the gelcoat would stick to anything that resin would stick to. |

And polyester resin doesn't stick to wood particularly well in a wet environment. It tends to delaminate. There are better finishes for wood. Like epoxy. |
