Any tips on repairing poly' hulls on the Getaway. Is there a suitable filler and did i read somewhere that these hulls cannot be painted. If so what is the best method of finishing. I have several battle scars on mine up to about 1/25" deep and 6 " long.

Likely the best is to leave it alone, but you can trim off the loose material and then buff. There is no filler material that will work.

Post subject:  New Getaway has a pinhole in hull. Help!

I read with dismay that there is no suitable filler for the hull. I have a brand new Getaway. Sailed it 2X. Last week a freak storm with 60 mph wind picked it up, snapped the anchor line and threw and it into the dunes. Amazingly, the only damage is a scrape in the hull that includes a pin-sized hole. How can I repair this hole? What do I do to get my new boat seaworthy? Thanks!

I don't know if anyone has tried it but this looks like it could work. http://www.urethanesupply.com/step3b.html

this page says it worked on a wave, I would think it would also work on a getaway.

Be careful. If i remember correctly the wave hulls are not cured the same way a Getaways hulls are cured. I believe teh getaway has the outer skin of the hulls crosslinked which will prevent most tings from bonding to it. I don't think the wave hulls are like this. I would do a test somewhere hidden and not structurally important to see how well it works.

Post subject:  Cross Linked

Both the Wave and the Getaway have Cross Linked Polyethylene outer skins.

If there is a pin hole that is leaking, it could be filled with an epoxy material I think. The patch should be a plug that expands into the inner foam layer as a mechanical bond. You would need to hollow out a small area. You also may be able to weld (melt) some of the inner foam to plug the hole.

What about using a PTEX stick used for repairs on Ski Bottoms. Easy to handle and control. I have fixed many a gouge on my skis.

What is the "inner" side then? Seems to me someone could insert something into the hull as a "backing", then use whatever sticks to the "non-outter" material, and also fill the thickness of the hull.

Check out G-Flex Epoxy from West Systems.
I used it on a roto-molded kayak with good luck.
They saw a kayak in half and glue it back togeter with this stuff on the site. http://www.westsystem.com/ss/g-flex-epoxy/

You could get an Old Town Canoe repair kit:
http://store.oldtowncanoe.com/products/ ... lex_Repair

Even a skid plate if you land often on a rough beach:

But the skid will slow you down, it's not a beautiful patch.
