I just pulled a comp-tip out of mast to move to a different base and the foam inside the comp-tip is wet. I have no idea how deep the wetness goes. So...what's the best thing to do? I've heard of using gasoline to melt foam before. Should I do this to remove all the foam and then replace it with two-part foam?

thanks,

Mark

Just leave it out in the sun for a few days.

Removing the foam with gasoline is extraordinarily dangerous. If you want to remove the foam, then use mechanical, not chemical means.
