Post subject:  Attach a Mast Head Float...issues!!!

Over the winter I bought a Mama Bob mast head float. I have a 1980
TequilaSunrise Blue Hulls CCMP1393M80F. This boat has NO comp tip. I ordered the Mast Float that should have fit that mast. This is the PDF instruction I was sent and have now located again on the “support page”.
•Mast Float (Baby Bob) Installation 30116 H14/16 (pdf 92KB) I know it says Baby Bob, but that is the set of directions I was sent. The hardware I received all looks good and make sense...just not for my mast.
I CANT FIND ANY INSTRUCTION OF THE MAST I HAVE!!!!!!!!!
The top of my mast is a single round pulley that can not be drilled.

These are the other possible directions for the installation.
•Mast Float (Mama Bob) Installation 30112 (pdf 124KB)
•Mast Float (Bob) Installation 30113 (pdf 174KB)
•Mast Float (Baby Bob) Installation 30115 Wave

Any help would be great....Thanks

I have a baby bob on a 16 with the one piece mast and single sheave at the top. I did not install mine, but I removed it for storage and attached it again. There are 4 holes, 2 per side with screws that go in. With the type of screw used, the mast head would have had to be drilled and threads tapped in it.

If you don't have a set of taps, you won't be able to do it. If you do, then you need to mark your holes, drill them the proper size to match the tap you will need to use. I would put some tape of some sort on the drill bit as a stopper so that you only drill through the metal and not through the sheave.

I checked the instructions, the Mama Bob seems to mount differently then the Baby Bob. Do you have 2 angle brackets to mount it to the mast head or a shaft?

Installation 30116 H14/16 (pdf 92KB)

Has instructions and 4 screws to install on the old single sheave mast head. The Mama Bob is a bit bigger than what the hardware was designed to hold (was for Baby Bobs), but this is the only option other than getting the 30112 post hardware for your float. There is a kit for just the shaft hardware: 30112004

I just posted a Youtube video on how to install a Bob on an all aluminum mast with a single sheave masthead. Hope it helps.

Thanks so much for the video........I was not sure about the depth at which I could screw into the mast head. Now that I have watched this video I will complete my project over the winter and be ready for the season. Thanks
