| Post subject: | Removing and Reinstalling Hulls |
1985 H16 Is there a trick to getting the hulls loose from the pylons? And....once I get them off, how do I get them back on? They seem awful tight and I don't want to damage them without knowing the proper way to remove and reinstall them. Thanks for the help. |

Big hammer! We use a mallet called a "Dead Blow". This is a sand filled head. 2-5 lbs. We have had to use steel slege hammers with 2x4s too. Remove the pylon bolts. Loosen or remove the trampoline. Hammer in a upwards direction against the corner castings. Takes a considerable swing force in most cases. Hit each corner a bit then go to the next. Removing the frame as evenly as possible. |

Thanks. That's what I figured, but I wanted to make sure. What about getting it back on? Use the hammer and do the opposite? Thanks. AE |

Putting them back was the easy part for me. I cleaned off the inside of the castings and pylons really well and drove them back on with my dead-blow hammer. Beat on it right over the pylon and make sure it goes on evenly. I had to get my wife to hold the hull in position while I got them started. I laso opnly removed one side at a time. Did it frek you out cutting holes in your boat? |

A little, but I knew it had to be done to do the repair correctly. The hulls are now off and I am letting the insides dry. I'll start on the glass-work in a day or so. Thanks for the response. AE |
