PoliGlow on older rudders

Post subject:  PoliGlow on older rudders
I am finally getting around to rebuilding my rudders tonight. My plan is to sand them down with fine grit paper to get most of the nicks and scratches out, then give them a coat of PoliGlow. I have the older white-ish non-EPO rudders. They look plastic or fiberglass of some sort from a 1979 H16.

Will the PoliGlow work well on this material? Or is there something better to use? I really am not a fan of painting them, as I have never had good luck getting paint to stick to something like this.

most paint won't stick. However, I did try Krylon Fusion on mine last year and it seems to be hold well.

I'm planning on sanding mine to get them smooth and back to white and then I'm going to cover it in a few coats of Red Max Pro. Poliglow would work the same and should give it a nice original shine.

White-ish rudders from '79 are Lexan. Tougher than hell, and flexible like a noodle. Tough to get a good surface finish on them.

So will the PoliGlow do anything for them? After sanding them, they seem 'open' like they need some sort of coating to protect them. Maybe just go over them with a heat gun to close the pores?
