Post subject:  Repairing the finish on black carbon EPO2 rudders

You guys have any suggestions for what works well to repair scratches and dings in carbon EPO blades. In a few places I need to repair just the thin clear finish layer. I think it's epoxy but it could be polyester.

Epoxy will amber badly if you don't provide UV protection.

To repair the outer clear coat, you need clear coat resin. US Composites sells a surfboard resin - "Silmar 249 Clear Polyester Surfboard Resin", here: http://www.uscomposites.com/polyesters.html (scroll down). Note that you'll need to get the sanding aid (surfacing wax) for it, otherwise, it won't cure completely.
