Hey guys I've never trimmed a batten what kind of saw works best? thanks!

Hacksaw. Trim it through 90% from one side, then flip it over and finish it off coming back from the other side. This will prevent the fibers from splitting at the end of the cut. Then clean up the edge with a hand file.

I would also recommend putting "Luff Caps" on the newly tapered ends of the battens (Page 19 of the Hobie Spring 2012 Catalog). Wrapping the tapered ends with electrical tape will also help keep them from splitting.

Also, taping the luff caps to the battens will make it easier to remove the battens without the luff caps falling off in the pockets.
