Post subject:  Tiger Hull cracks

I recently noticed a thin vertical crack along the very front edge (bow) of the hull(both)where the hull is joined together. Has anyone encountered this? I am probably going to sand off the gel coat to see how deep the crack runs, although I can't believe it goes through to the interior.
I have not hit anything so I am assuming it is a natural seam crack.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Thomas

The Tiger hulls are "Clam shell" two halfs joined down the center of the deck / keel / bow, so a visable "crack" may be crazing over a bit of flex the hull went through. The gel coat could be thin maybe. Photo?

Matt I have 2 spots on a Tiger hulls I just bought and they are all the way thru the seam water leaks thru them any ideas on a repair technic? Looks like the last owner tried to just use some filler but it did not work. I will add photos of the other crack if it will help I think its longer but its on the seam too.

Drug on the beach and over time wore through some of the glass. You need a basic bottom job as done on other boats for keel wear. Even a 16 can wear through to an actual gap. Grind off the gel coat. Layer glass along the keel. Smooth, fill and gelcoat again.

I was thinking about grinding out the seam some and filling with http://www.westsystem.com/ss/new-six10-epoxy-adhesive/ then doing a bottom job. There really is not much beach wear wear it seems like the seam came apart I have the same thing on the other hull in a different place with even less beach wear. Thanks for the quick reply Matt!!

Hi
I am close to purchase a Tiger from 1996.

Any known weak spots that year?

What worries me a bit - under the rear crossbar there are many small/thin 'spider-like' cracks in the gelcoat. If I lay a hand on that area I can feel it is not 100% flat as well. But it feels solid if I press on it).
Any thing to worry about?

Best regards
Fredrik
