Post subject: | New Owner Hobi Holder MKII 14 - Mast Repair Question |
I've just become the proud owner of a Holder 14 MKII. The boat is in great shape with one exception, the mast is broken into two pieces. It is a two piece mast, and a clean sheer at the joint between the aluminum extrusion and plastic/fiberglass tip. My thought is I can repair this myself less expensively than replacement parts/new parts. My thought is to drill out the foam core and insert a tube (plastic, PVC or fiberglass whatever is available) and glue into place. Is this a reasonable solution? Any suggestions or opinions would be welcome. Forgive me if this topic is already covered in the message board, my searches did not uncover it. Thanks |

Not many Holder owners here... The CompTip for the Hobie / Holder 14 is no longer available, so repair is the only option. If the tip itself is not actually damaged, I think you can sleeve it. |
