Nop! The comp tip will flex but not enough to crack the paint its contruction makes it super stiff. The alum mast will flex more that the fiberglass comp tip itself. From what I see it will only flex maybe an inch from base of comp tip to head, and thats over a span of 7'... The comp tip is molded black gelcoat/fiber with a foam core....gelcoat being more brittle than urethane paint and I havent heard of a cracked com tip surface. It will obviously crack if the comp tip breaks in half or fractures its fibers internaly but that will be a structural failure that will sure cause this. Any other opinions? |

We had a surface crack on ours and a friend of mine helped me grind it down and then we laid a strectch of carbon fiber woven roven at the repair point. Painted the whole thing with krylon and no failure yet. |

Would u say that was an internal crack or only gel surface? Is that why u used carbon fiber to restore strenght? |

When I first discovered the crack I was sure that it was structural. Upon grinding it down, we discovered it was gel coat only and was not a safety issure but too late now, we had already ground down. We used the carbon only because we had it on hand, and thought it would be the better matterial to use since it was not going to be part of the original lay up. |

Ahhh, well now Im confused... Can think why gelcoat would crack with such little flex in the part with no internal failure. Ill sure post if the finish on my comp tip cracks someday! |
