I have a water leak on the port hull. It is leaking at one of the screws for the reinforcement plate under the front cross bar on the inside. I was thinking of removing the plate and rebeding it with 5200. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry, I totally forgot to mention that yes, it is a Hobie 18SX. This is one of the metal plates that everybody is adding to the older hobie 18's so they don't rip half of there bow off. My boat is a 1999 model and came with the plates.
