My hobie 14tj is in pretty good shape but I wouldn't mind making her look a little prettier.

The tramp frame was originally that black andoized metal they talked about in the brochures back in the day. Over the years it has faded to gun metal grey and been scratched, etc.

Can I just paint this black again? What kind of paint would I use?

Heck, can I paint the mast and boom while I'm at it?

two part polyurothane paint is strongest
followed by one part poly paint
ruff/scuff the black anodised finish with wet sand paper 400 grit
that will also clean off any oil wax or other stuff on there
no need to sand thru the black finish just clean and tooth the surface
clean smooth surface prep is the big deal to get a good job

spraying will give the best result, then a roller or pads [sponge]
avoid old style brushes and poly, it tends to show brush marks
as it fast drys before the brush marks flow out

sure paint what ever you want
