After considering sanding and rhinolining my trailer as part of an overhaul, I thought "Why not do the same thing with my boat?"
Can anyone think of a good reason
_not_ to put a smooth finish protection from Line-X (
http://www.line-x.com) or Rhino Liner (
http://www.rhinoliner.com) on my 1979 Hobie 16?
I've been trying to think of ways to protect the bottom of my hulls from the many rocks and the beginning sailors I often take out. I don't race my boat, its just for fun. I don't imagine the cost of this protection would be much more than the cost to fill in chips and buff the existing gelcoat. I'd never have to worry about dings or fading, and cleaning would be a simple.
I don't have time to do the chip repair and painting myself, and I've only been able to find one boat place to do the repair and their estimate is over $400.
Thanks,
