Scupper Cart - Warning



Improper use of a scupper cart can damage a hull. Kayak hulls are strong and rigid at the hull bottom and cockpit floor surfaces. Scupper tubes are not intended to take the load of a scupper cart. These are water barriers primarily. Scupper carts are designed to insert through scuppers and extend clear into the cockpit area. This places loads only on the hull bottom and cockpit floor areas. A partially inserted cart can place unintended loads on the scupper tubes. This can distort the tube or even cause failure.

Fully insert your cart in a way to prevent any side loads against scupper tubes. Carts must contact the hull bottom. Use the cart bushing clamps to reduce keel load and distribute some of the load directly to the scuppers (3 contact points). Use the "cart keeper pin" feature to retain the cart in the hull.






When removing a cart... once again, prevent any side loading of scupper tubes.

Scupper carts are best installed by rolling the kayak on it's side. This allows cart installation and removal without any loads on the tubes themselves.

Never leave a kayak on a plug-in cart. The weight of the kayak will cause damage to the hull bottom and/or cargo area around scuppers. Especially on heavier models our heavily loaded kayaks.
