New Getaway owner here, looking for info.

I am considering using a pontoon lift as a hoist for the new Getaway. The hoist is definitely long enough, around 20 feet, and the lifting rails are about 4-5 ft apart. The rails will extend the entire length of the Getaway and will contact all 3 cross-members. I will add a centering fixture that will insure the the boat is centered width-wise on the rails.

I am concerned that the 3 cross-members may not be designed to support the weight of the pontoons pulling down rather than pushing up, causing future fatigue induced failure.

Anyone have knowledge experience with this support method?

Thanx,

Gerald Fischer

My pontoon boat lift was modified for my Getaway by attaching 3 strong boards going across the lift. Just push the boat onto them and sight the position that looks the most balance fore and aft. Perfect. :D
