I have a getaway with wings and had trapize wires installed but have not used the trapize yet. You cannot use the trapize with wings? What happens if you do? |

What happens if you do? Nothing that Hobie would do about it, but we don't recommend it or support the idea by providing the correct length trapeze wires. We only make trapeze wires that fit the Getaway without the seats. Why don't we recommend trapezing from the seats? The Hobie engineering department is concerned about the seats folding up while sailors are trapezing from them, if the pins are not properly installed in the extension tubes. |

Where can I find instructions on how to rig the trap wires? I need pictures if anyone has some they'd like to share. Connected trap wire to the mast tang and got the bungy through the tramp gromets. Now I don't know what to do with the rest of the hardware that came with the kit. short length of line, couple pulley's, line locks, plastic washers, and the harness hooks. |

The harken micro block disassembles and should be put at the end of the trap wire (where there is a wire loop). The white line goes through the block. One end of the white line is attached to the dogbone. The other end of the white line is attached to the end of the bungee. However, before attaching the white line to the end of the bungee, you insert the black plastic part in the line. It is meant to limit the amount of white line that can go through the loop and therefore adjusts the trapezing height. I think I have seen a diagram of how to install that plastic piece in the hobie catalog. Repeat the same operation on the other side. That means the bungee's end are attached to the white line at the port and starboard side (there is only one bungee) |

To install the ropelock refer to page 9 of the downloadable hobie sailboat accesories catalog. Dogbone = harness hook in your post. Put the washer between the rope lock and the trap wire loop to protect the ropelock. |

Just a trick I have:.....The bowline knot I use to attach the bungee to the white line is big and leaves an inch-wide bungee loop. When the trap is not in use I insert the harness hook halfway through the bungee loop to prevent it from dangling around and hitting people in the face. Happened to me and it kinda hurts. |

Oh, and to clarify the installation of the rope lock, the side that is to the right of the picture in the catalog is the one that passes through the washer and then the wire loop. |

Almost. I'd turn the ropelock around (so the black plastic hits square on the block instead of the having the white line getting cut by the sharp edges of the block) With the washer I think it is still better to put it the way I say. Also, the harness hook is upside down (from the position I have always seen it on other boats) |

Worked out great. Had the wings on but trapped off the hull. Forgot to get a picture. Will get one next weekend. |

I trapped this weekend on my friend's Getaway from the wings. I had to put the stopper as close to the dogbone as possible, so hardly any movement between in the rope. I also had to hook on the same hole of the dogbone that the rope is tied to. Turned out to be just the perfect length from that hole. I checked several times to make sure the pins were in the wings. It was my first time on the wire, it was a blast. It was a bit gusty so had to go in and out frequently. |
