Saw a good deal on the EuroTrax (cat-trax) from playboule but the cradle options didn't specify the Hobie Getaway model. Most other models seem to be supported (at least the non-rotomolded models).

I emailed the company, but they didn't have a clue - however they offered a solution of making a cardboard template so they could match it up, or suggested I contact someone from Hobie about similiarites in Hull design between the more 'popular' models that are supported.

Before I go to the effort to find the balance point of the boat and cut out
a cardboard template, I thought maybe someone on this forum could provide useful insight.

TIA,
Chuck

The generic cradle for many cats (H18, H21) should work. You do not want a custom fit.

Or just visit the site - it is well done and there may be better contact
info, pretty good FAQ's etc.

The Playaboule site still doesn't specify which cradle to use for the Getaway. I'm too impatient to send them a cutout, so I took a different approach: I blew up their image of the V-shaped cradle and printed it to make my own template! This seemed to fit my Getaway's hull pretty well near the exptected balance point--i.e. the middle--so I went ahead and took the plunge and placed an order. I figured at worst I'd have to send the cradles back and exchange them for the "generic" shape.

But the good news is, it worked! I've used the dolly a couple of times now and I think the V-shaped cradles are a good fit for the Getaway. So now we know. I sent Playaboule an e-mail about this, so maybe in the future the Getaway will show up on their list.

Check out my web page to see how I rigged up my trailer to carry the beach dolly.

Cheers, Steve

Follow up...

I passed my recommendation to Playaboule and their site now specifies the V-shaped cradle for the Getaway.

They thanked me for the info by sending me a free adapter to fill the dolly's tires with water to keep them from floating.

Nice folks! (And still the best price I've seen for the EuroTrax)

Cheers,

Steve

Agreed. I bought the asymetrical cradles for my H-16 and really wish I had gone with the standard unifit cradles. That said, the Eurotrax are great wheels.
