Does it hurt to store my mast for my Getaway in the sun or do I need to keep it covered? I didnt know if the sun will degrade the comp tip.

Sun exposure will degrade the comptip. The epoxy resin will start to break down and eventually you'll end up with a bunch of spikey fiberglass fibers sticking out. When you run your hand over the mast, you'll get fiberglass in it. So it's best to keep the mast tip covered or at least in the shade whenever possible. You can also paint the comptip with some basic hardward store spray paint periodically if you do have to keep it out in the sun (like if you keep your boat on a beach with the mast up). Anything to keep the fiberglass protected from the sun.

The aluminum portion of the mast is totally impervious to sun exposure (salt water on the other hand is a totally different story).
