I am restoring a 2001 Hobie Getaway that was abandoned, and a lot of the pieces are missing and need replacement. I now have title to the boat. I have most of it sorted out, but I have two questions:

1. Has anyone replaced their main and jib sheets with anything besides the Hobie OEM stuff? I am looking at New England Ropes Sta-Set, Sta-Set X, and Regatta line. My priorities would be a comfortable rope in the hand, and durability.

2. The mainsail is pretty weathered, and has a tear in it. I can't afford $1,300 or so for a new one, so I would like to either get a good condition used sail (very hard to find), or siimply repair the existing one. Does anyone have any experience getting a sail repaired? If so, how durable was the sail after the repair?

Thanks.
