Bingo. Don't know US regulations, but here we are required to have one approuved PFD per passenger on any type of boat from dinghy to cruise ship. Not required to wear it, but it needs to be onboard.

I'm tempted by the self inflate when you hit the water type, but it would inflate on every capsize/pitchpole.

I too wear a Stohlquist PFD, which doubles as my paddling vest. I can wear it all day, and don't even notice it is there.

Big benefit is that I can put my iPhone in a waterproof pouch in the front pocket, and my GPS in the other front pocket.

Picked mine up at MEC, for all you other crazy canucks out there.
