Having recently been t-boned by an overzealous 16 sailor, is there any way to remove/minimize gouges and scratches in the hulls?

Not sure but all of the posts I read about the plastic from the getaway is that is not conducive to be repaired. That said you could probable take a kitchen knife and heat it up and using like a trowel you could flatten out small defects.
