Post subject:  Stiff struts on Getaway wing seats

I have a Getaway approx 9 years old and the wing seats are quite difficult to push back into their position for trailering. There is a grating noise particularly on the rear strut.
I sprayed some silicone lubricant into all the struts and this has helped however they appear to be returning to their previous grating rough action.

Can they be pulled apart and cleaned/lubricated?
Thanks
Peter
ps probablythe action of salt water on them over a number of years

Those two extrusions should just slide inside each other. There isn't any bearing or anything to get fouled - you might just pull them apart and clean them - I guess you have some sand stuck in there. This is a very odd report, never heard that - and we sell probably 75% of all Getaways with wings...so there's allot of them out there.
Best of luck with the repair. Post up your results so we can all know what you figured out. (might help someone in the future too)

Is it possible the strut got slightly bent/bowed? Other than that I can't really think of what would be causing your problem.
