Post subject:  Storing the Getaway

Has anyone ever stored a Getaway utilizing straps to hang the boat? My thought was to run straps lengthwise alongside each hull underneath the boat and attach the end of the straps to spreader bars that are attached to motorized hoists. The hoists would then be used to raise the boat. The straps would be underneath and support the 3 metal crossbars that connect the hulls on each side. I have access to an enclosed boathouse where the hoists, spreader bars and straps are located.

My worry is that the straps may put too much of a load on the front and rear crossbars where they attach to the rotomolded hulls, causing some type of deformation or failure. Looks like around a 100 lb load acting in an upward direction on each of the four straps for the 400 lb boat. It's the upward pull that I'm concerned with.

Any thoughts welcomed.

I used to store a 17 hauled up to the garage ceiling. I used 4 blocks, I think 4:1, each with a strap around the hull right in front and right behind the crossbars for the tramp. I had a local shoe repair shop stitch D rings to seat belt webbing to make the straps. Worked very well, and didn't take too much muscle to haul up.
