My mast was propped up on a step ladder and the wind blew it over. Because the mast float hit the ground first, it loosened the silicon holding the comptip to the aluminum section of the mast. Any suggestions on how to go about repairing it?

The tip should be installed with epoxy. Scrape and clean out the silicone and re-install with 2 part epoxy. Automotive Bondo (body putty) works very well for this.

Early Getaways were delivered without this bonding requirement. We soon found that the mast has too much load and will work loose or down into the aluminum section. Boats now come with glue to bond the parts together.

Do you know beginning what year the improved glue was used?

Can you get the glue some place? Is automotive bondo as good? My comp tip came loose during trailing. I'm glad it didn't fall off, but there is no sign of glue. I bought it last year from a dealer assembled. Yikes.
