We went out today for the first sail of the season on Utah lake. There where 5 cats out, two Nacras, a H18, H16 and my Getaway plus a few keel-boats. The water was 60 degrees and the air was 65 on Utah lake.

I have! Went out on Calero Reservoir (South San Jose) last Sunday. A short sail - about an hour, or so, due to timing and weather. It was a bit cool for my liking, and the winds were fluky, but it was good to get out. If nothing else, it was a good shakedown cruise after the boat has been in storage all winter.

We bought our Getaway at the end of November 2013, but we've only taken it out twice (due to the extra cold winter). The first trip was a 3-day outing in light winds in early December at Campland on Mission Bay in San Diego, CA.

And the second trip was another overnighter on Spring Break the first week of April out of Channel Islands Harbor (Oxnard, CA) in light to moderate winds and flat to large swell seas.

Happy Getaway-ing, all! :)

Those of you who saw "Downton Abbey" may remember Maggie Smith looking puzzled and asking: "What is a weekend"?

Well, we San Diegans ask: "What is a spring sail..?"
