Post subject:  Comptip spiderwebbing - repair?

We're getting out Getaway ready for the beach and noticed a crack on one side of the comptip up near the top and some weird webbing/dry desert looking crackling on the other side. The crack is all if 3 inches and passes through a rivet hole. If you twist on the bob you can see it spread however slightly. The crackling on the other side is for about the first (topmost) foot of the comptip.

Obvious question - should we run it and see what happens or should it be repaired (and then how....fibreglass tape and some epoxy)?

Thanks in advance for any help. Glad we noticed it before we started practicing tipping the Getaway - looks like the top could just snap off?Image

Found this - is that the answer? (Sorry for not digging a bit harder before posting. Maybe let me know if I have the answer here for sure.)

"It is just fiberglass using vinylester (polyester) resin. You can do repairs using similar material or epoxies.

We call the fitting a halyard "hook".
