I'm going to start storing my Getaway at a Minnsota Lake. It has a sandy beach that meets grass at the waterline. I'm planning to store the boat on the grass.

I'd like to be able to pull in up on the grass with one person. Do you have any good ideas or experience on how to do this?

Thanks, Doug

PVC or polyethylene pipe.

Make a track of a few pipes to slide over. That way you don't have to lift. We made a set of "rope ladders" out of pipe for the 21 Sport Cruiser and that boat was over 650 pounds. I could slide it pretty easily, even up and down a slight slope. Our "Beach Track Slides" also had a sheet of tramp material on one side. This kept the pipes from sinking into the sand and kept it from getting tangled up.

The "rungs" were about 1 1/2 feet wide and spaced at about two foot intervals.

I also know of a situation where they just used two pipes and just pulled the boats up sideways.

Matt,

Thanks for the response. Actually, I have the tracks for the H21 because I used to own one of them. Would you just keep the boat stored on the tracks for storage or slide it off the track for storage?

Thanks, Doug

On or off the tracks?

Shouldn't hurt the boat, but could cause small indentions where each of the rungs rest along the bottom depending on how many it rests on. Might also just slip right off the tracks. The Getaway hulls are pretty slippery.

I kept a Getaway on the Georgian Bay in Canada (all rock beach). What I did was took 2x4's with PVC pipe with long braded rod on the inside and bolted on both sides of the 2x4 loosly and used the track idea with PCV pipe rollers. It worked very well even up a slight grade using extra 4:1 blocks and a tree!

Has anyone just laid down pieces of PVC pipesin front of the boat as they went, or used plastic trim material like azak?

It seems like the Getaway would drag better going forward due to the gentle taper of the bottom of the hull, but may have a problem when pulled backward?
