Is the spreader bar strong enough to winch a Getaway on to a trailer? Is a cat trax a better option to help load a gateway onto a trailer? |

I usually water launch from my trailer, but one time I had to drag it up the beach and onto the trailer. You need to get the boat up high, so yeah, use Cat Trax. It took 4 of us to pull and push the boat up onto the trailer. I fear that winching on the front spreader bar will bend it. |

Tieing off to the front crossbar might be a better approach. The front crossbar should have no issue supporting the winch load. Maybe tie a small line around the winch line and the center of the spreader bar so the winch line stays on the centerline of the boat. sm |

This is all I did for the first season with the getaway, and it was uphill, too. I never found it too difficult, but normally tried to get the trailer at least partially in the water. Either way, I used the spreader bar and winch, but it sounds like the crossbar is probably stronger so maybe I will do that in the future. Typically had 2-3 people, one on the trailer winch and 1-2 helping to lift and push the cat. |
