Curious why Hobie would not have done a pull test on the tang? So if we don't know what the max load the tang will take then we can't put a value on the max weight of a hiked out sailor either??

The tang is mounted quite a few inches (foot or more) up in the CompTip. No change since the original Getaway came out. Unless the factory is keeping a secret from me :)

BTW, the tang fasteners / rivets seat into a backing plate of aluminum inside the CompTip.

On a similar but different topic -- I got another mast tang and rivets to mount in the comp tip to fly a spinnaker. When I was reading about "Steve's Getaway Mods" I didn't notice anything about needed a backing plate. If I mount the new tang with just rivits is it likely to just pull out?

It is typical to simply rivet a spinnaker tabg in a CompTip without much concern.

Is it possible to add a dophin striker to the Getaway ?
Would that solve all the issues relative to having a double-trapeze on the boat ?
