Post subject:  Wave versus Getaway

Hey, all!
I am curently looking to purchase either a Wave or Getaway.
My situation is this: we are a family of 4. My sons are 13 and 9 years old. My wife would sail with us once in a great while; the boys would most often be the crew (or maybe dad would get pushed away from the helm and crew for the boys! :) )
Of course, dollars and cents always come into play but what do you think would be a better boat for a first time sailing family?
I like the portability of the Wave but I also don't want to get something and feels it's "too small" after a little bit.
I've been sailing 16's and have enjoyed it a lot. Now I want to get something for us to take to various lakes and such.
Any ideas or opinions?

Thanks,
Nick

As long as the boys are going to be consistant crew... I'd go with the Getaway. If there was a chance that Dad would be doing allot of sailing by himself or the kids would be sailing by themselves I might suggest the Wave.

:D I just purchased a Getaway and find it easy to handle by myself. I've sailed and raced 16 s for years and the Getaway is much eaiser to handle.

Definately gateway. Having family?- stay away from wave unless you want to sink it. Gateway is so easy that you can drive it solo or with passengers for pleasure. Although my idea would be to increase sail area
for more chalenging power. - definately Gateway.
Having H18 myself and loving it (I do more recreational sailing)
sometimes I even regret that I didn't get Gateway but at that time
it seemed to pricee for me with all options I wanted.
