I'm finding that it's getting harder to insert and remove the tiller crossbar endcaps from the tiller arms (or I'm getting significantly weaker). What's the secret? Should I be using some sort of lubricant to allow me to more easily insert and remove the endcaps?

I've got an '06 with the stock tendon tiller connector and may look at upgarding to the newer style, but in the interim...

Thanks!

On my '06 boat it seems the endcaps have gotten looser as the boat has aged. When the boat was newer I had to keep a pair of pliers handy to twist the caps loose. I would say to try a little wax or silicone spray.

What's the cost to upgrade to the new tiller connector? What's the advantage?

Buffalojoe/Matt,

Thanks for the tips and pricing on the new setup. Looks like I'll be visiting the dealer at some point.

I'd previously performed a westpennsyltucky shipalt (very close in design to the subsequent 'braided hose' upgrade) after the tendon insert sheared at the beach, and it's a hell of a lot stronger connection now, just a bear to setup and breakdown. Seeing as the new setup now comes stock, I'm assuming it's pretty stout and reliable.

Is it simple to swap out the '06 setup (drill out/re-rivet)? What about the retainer cord? Need to drill new holes?

Thanks again!
