The eye straps located on the bows used to secure the main stay are deforming and trying to pull loose. I have retightened them several times using lock tight,however, the straps are deforming. I run the wave very hard and in heavy surf and seas.My first thought is that the cables are not tight enough or perhaps to tight. Does any one out there know? Ben |

I have not heard that one, but those eyes are not really stout. Sounds like you do really push it! The rig, if loose, may cause impact loads that could distort them, but I wouldn't think you could get the rig too tight. The plastic deforms and eases the loads. |

Mine is a '95 model and has small splits around the plastic where the eye's screw in. In the 8 or 10 times I've had it out, it hasn't gotten any worse.. a |

We run these boats in our rental fleets, I surf waves in them all the time, never has any problem with this, make sure that you have the port on the port side as well as the starboard on the starboard, they should sorta lean in, I could see where if these were put on backwards they would deform. Thank you ALL for the input.Sunjammers are correct in that the eyes are slanted inward.It's my first Hobie and I will learn.
